Feed him at the same time you're eating. So he won't steal your food. Play with him so he wont go after you or your house objects. He might enjoy eating birds.. it's ok, it's a cat. Play with him at least 1/2 an hour a day.
Cats sleep during the day and hunt during the night, just like lions. That's why you're woken up at 3 am. If you play long enough during the day, he'll come to bed with you during the night.
