New page

Uluma is a variation of the ancient Mesoamerican game ullamaliztli. The goal was to knock a ball into a hoop carved into the side of a wall with your knees, hips, elbows, or head. This article will teach you to make a model of the hoop from this historic sport.

== Steps ==

# Take a plain, rectangular bar of soap. Take a pencil and outline two parallel lines running vertically from the bottom center. Stop at the middle.

# Outline a circle where the lines stopped. Make sure it is perfectly round.

# Take a butter knife, and start shaving away at the soap outside the outlined area.

# Place the tip of the butter knife at the center of the circle. Slowly, carefully, begin spinning the knife to drill through the circle to make a hole.

# Collect the shavings. Put them aside, and get out some paint. One a shade of brown, the other either red or yellow (preferably red).

# Paint the soap brown. Let it dry once you have covered all of it.

# Take the metal end of a paperclip. Dip it in the other paint and draw on Aztec symbols on both sides.

# Get out a glass bowl. Fill it with hot water. Gather the shavings and place them in.

# Wait for about 5 minutes. Carefully drain the water, and pick up the wet shavings.

# Mold them together. Make a ball out of them. Try fitting it through the hoop, then let it dry once it fits.

# Paint the ball brown, and let it dry.

== Tips ==

* Make the parallel lines about two finger-widths apart.

* Be steady when painting on the symbols.
