Writing down the number of factors you can compare between one baseball bat and another makes a very long list. This list can include more obvious things like length and color design or more complicated things like swing weight and trampoline effects.Below we categorize the comparisons in a few of the most helpful categories: League Allowance, Material, Trampoline Effect and Swing Weight.

== Steps ==

# The most simple ways to compare bats (without just buying them all and trying it) is to review baseball bats. Here is how to search to find those on google:

#* (year) (brand) (model) review

#* Example: 2015 DeMarini CF7 Review

# Another way to compare baseball bats is to determine the bats swing weight. A swing weight is a measurement of how much power the bat requires to swing from the knob. The swing weight is NOT the stated weight of the bat and many bats who have similar stated weigths swing very differently. This power, also known as torque, can be measured in very technical terms. If you don't want to do it that way, one quick way to compare swing weights is to hold the bats by the knob in either of your hands and feel which one is harder to keep the barrel horizontal to the ground. The bat with the heavier end is the bat with the higher swing weight.

# One way to compare baseball bats is to determine in which league each bat is allowed. There are several leagues and many of these have their own rules and regulations on which bats they will allow. Each baseball bat is usually manufactured to fit into one of these leagues.

#* In MLB baseball, for example, a baseball bat must be made of wood. It must also meet certain requirements for stability.

#* NCAA and Highschool baseball in the USA also have a standard for their bats. These include length limits (34 inches), weight to legth ratio limits (no greater than drop 3) and a standard for their bats trampline effect called Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution (more commonly known as BBCOR).

#* There are several leagues in the little league realm. Many of which have their own standards.Pony Baseball, as one example, allows for 2 3/4 barrel bats with a control on trampline effect no greater than a 1.15 (BPF 1.15). It also requires that each aluminum alloy or composite bat be labeled with 'approved for play in PONY' stamping.Little League Basball, as another example, requires no greater than 2 1/4 in diameter barrel and a BPF 1.15 stamp.

#* Pony Baseball, as one example, allows for 2 3/4 barrel bats with a control on trampline effect no greater than a 1.15 (BPF 1.15). It also requires that each aluminum alloy or composite bat be labeled with 'approved for play in PONY' stamping.

#* Little League Basball, as another example, requires no greater than 2 1/4 in diameter barrel and a BPF 1.15 stamp.

# A third way to compare baseball bats is to determine the bats construction. There are four types of baseball bats.

#* A wood bat. It is made of wood and very easy to tell.

#* A single piece aluminum alloy bat. This is determined by looking at the manufacturers website or a review of the bat. This bat is made of a single piece aluminum that is molded into the shape of a baseball bat.

#* A single piece composite bat. This is determined by looking at the manufacturers website or a review of the bat. This bat is made of a single piece of composite material that is molded into the shape of a baseball bat.

#* A hybrid bat is a two piece bat whose handle is composite and barrel is aluminum alloy. There is a connective piece in the middle of the baseball bat.

#* A two piece composite bat is a bat whose handle is made of composite and barrel is also made of composite. There is a connectie piece in the middle of the baseball bat.

# A final way to comapre baseball bats is to hit with them. Each bat manufaturere usually claims it has the best trampoline effect. However, bats are mostly required under BBCOR and BPF standards to have the same trampoline effect even across different companies. Therefore, the only real way to compare the best baseball bat is to use them in batting practice and see which one you like better.

== Tips ==

* Read Reviews

* Compare Swing Weights

* Compare Pricing

* Compare Construction (One-piece? Two-piece? Hybrid? Wood?)

* If you can get your hands on the bats compare them in the batting cage

* Buy from a company that lets you try it out and return it if you don't like it (usually called a 'love it or return it' policy.
