how to prevent copper pipes and taps from getting stolen.(this tip works 100%)since scrap metal and copper traders do not buy painted copper and the the thieves thinks it is plastic or not copper!so try this!
== Steps ==
# first make sure the pipes and taps are free of dust and dirt,wash it of with clean water if there is dirt like cement or mud on them sand it down with sandpaper first 80 gritt then 100 gritt.
# wash pipes and taps off with clean water and let them dry.
# put a dripsheet on the ground you do not want paint on the ground an paving!now you can put a primer on if you are going to put enamel paint on,you can use NS4 and this is great sice it is a rust killer,a primer and it is water based so it s easy to clean your brush!
# give te pipes and taps a thin first coat and let it dry(on the cotainer they will tell you how long to wait,
# once the NS4 is completely dry you can add another coat,again make sur no rain is on the way,again let it dry.
# now you can paint with enamel i prefer matt (eggshell)it is easier to paint than gloss and it looks better.if you use a waterbased paint ,it is perfect just make sure it is exterior paint then it will be fine!
# once the first coat of enamel starts getting sticky (nearly dry you can add another coat
# now you can can clean your brush with terpentine or petrol.if you used waterbased paint then water wil do the trick!Happy painting and give those thieves a big headache!
== Tips ==
* Always make sure there is no rain on the way!since this primer is water based and wash of in the rain if it is no dry yet!
* never but never paint on dry enamel paint unless you sanded it lightly to roughen it and primered it.otherwise the paint will peel of later in time
