Boring paintings in frames? Nah. Digital photos are the answer. A few clicks or bucks will make your home look 21st century worthy. Just follow these few steps.

== Steps ==

=== Use a Chromecast ===

# Using a Chromecast is the method with the most positive side effects. If you already own one skip to step 2. If not, pick one up in your closest electronics store ($35), plug it into your TVs HDMI port and follow the instructions on your phone/TV to set it up.

# Chromecast shows beautiful pictures and photos by default when it's in standby. So if NASA's or National Geographic's Photos of the day, aswell as incredible Photos taken by "normal" people, are enough for you, just turn on your TV and select the HDMI input you stuck your Chromecast into. If you'd rather show your own personal photos go to step 3.

# Displaying personal photos isn't a problem with the Chromecast either. There are plenty of apps on Google Play that have a Photo-Gallery function for Chromecast, as long as the photos are stored on your phone. Good Apps are for example Dayframe, Photocast for Chromecast and Photowall for Chromecast. Or just type something in the search bar like "Chromecast Photos", "Chromecast Gallery" and choose the app you prefer.

=== Use an old Tablet or iPad ===

# There is litterally no better use for an old tablet, iPad or even smartphone than a picture frame. There are tonns of apps on Google Play or the Apple App Store that have a Gallery function. Some tablets even come with such a function preinstalled. Just browse through the app store and download the app you like most.

=== Buy an electronic picture frame ===

# If you don't have an old tablet, there's always the option to buy an electronic picture frame. You can get them from $25 upwards with the resolution and options growing with the price. Almost all of them accept SD-Cards. So stick your SD card into it and enjoy looking at potos from last year's holiday!

== Tips ==

* When buying the inexpensive Chromecast, you get lots of additional features, for example the ability to stream Netflix, Hulu or Youtube onto your TV.

* A cradle can make a nice addition to your recycled Tablet or iPad. With it the Tablet has a nice viewing angle and never runs out of battery, given that most cradles have a charging feature. If you don't have one yet, check on Amazon.
